Postal Service Announces Plans
To Consolidate CFS Sites
(12/18/09) In letters dated Oct. 7 and Dec. 1, 2009 [PDF], the USPS notified the APWU of plans to consolidate 39 Computer Forwarding System (CFS) sites in Fiscal Year 2010. The consolidation is a result of the implementation of the Postal Automated Redirection System (PARS).
Initially, the Postal Service plans to have just one CFS site per district, and later one site per state.
In Fiscal Year 2011, management plans additional consolidations, and intends to reduce the total number of sites to 21. The sites will be located at the National Distribution Centers (formerly Bulk Mail Centers or BMCs).
The letters includes lists of the sites scheduled for consolidation and the anticipated effective dates.
