Delivery Bar Code Sorters

The APWU has received information about equipment changes at numerous facilities throughout the country, affecting Delivery Bar Code Sorters, Advanced Facer Canceller Systems (AFCS), and Multi-Line OCRs.

A USPS letter dated Nov. 10, 2004, [PDF] provides a tentative list of affected facilities, and background material dated July 9, 2004, [PDF] describes the changes to the equipment.

Modification kits will be installed on 217 DBCS machines to give them DIOSS-EC ability. Deployment of the new DIOSS-EC (DBCS with Input/Output Subsystems – Enhanced Capability) machines and DIOSS kits is expected to begin in January 2006 and end in December 2007.
