FUNCTION:
Performs assignments at the postal data center as needed, for familiarization and work experience with related activities designed to prepare the incumbent for entry into a targeted mid-level professional or specialist position.

REQUIREMENTS:
This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.

Special
Applicants must have the ability to learn the following:
A computer programming and/or operating system control language applicable to the particular installation.
How to recognize program or system malfunction, and what appropriate action needs to be initiated to correct the problem.
How to use the various utilities of the system.
Basic flow charting.
Applicants must have skill in written and verbal communication.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to demonstrate an interest in computer programming and/or logical thinking of the type which forms the basis for programming.
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have successfully completed Postal Service Test 207.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS:
The applicant's record of total experience, education, training, and supervisory appraisal must show the ability to perform the duties of the position.
