FUNCTION:

Provides initial point of contact and support for inquiries related to accounting procedures and processing assuring user problems are resolved.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

REQUIREMENTS:

This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs, taking into account provisions of Article 33 of the Information Technology/Accounting Service Centers collective bargaining agreement. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.

  1. Knowledge of postal processes and procedures sufficient to comprehend customer inquiries; and respond with technical guidance and support, or refer for further assistance as appropriate.

  2. Knowledge of computer systems at a level sufficient to operate keyboard devices, input data, and obtain reports and information.

  3. Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to express ideas or facts clearly and logically when answering questions, giving directions, and providing information.

  4. Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions or directions for performing work tasks or job assignments.

  5. Ability to work cooperatively and interact positively with coworkers and customers, exercising courtesy, discretion, and self-control.

  6. Ability to work without immediate supervision sufficient to independently plan work activities in compliance with operating guidelines and procedures, and check work for completeness and accuracy.

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must successfully complete Postal Service Test 741, Series 3.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
