FUNCTION:

Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to philatelic mail order products, first clay covers, subscription services, deposit accounts, and customer adjustments.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

REQUIREMENTS:

This section is composed of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) which are required to satisfactorily perform the tasks of the position. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess a sufficient level of each KSA, to include at least minimum competency for senior-qualified positions to enable them to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Applicants demonstrate these levels by describing examples of experience, education, or training, any of which may be non-postal. Ratings are based on the demonstration of the level of possession of each of the KSAs. Failure to demonstrate any KSA is disqualifying.

  1. General

    B-10. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

    B-44. Ability to resolve personally problems of a routine nature.

    B-45. Ability to give understandable information in verbal and written form.

    B-45. Ability to follow oral instructions.

    B-4. Ability to work without immediate supervision.

  2. Special
    1. Knowledge of word processing systems refers to the functions of components in a word processing system and an understanding of techniques and procedures used for input, revision, editing, formatting, and printing.

    2. Ability to work and deal with people refers to working in cooperation and interacting positively with customers and coworkers, exercising courtesy, etiquette, and self-control. (B-53, B-58)

    3. Calculating skill with speed and accuracy refers to operating calculators, adding machines, and similar keypad operated equipment for tasks involving tallying, computing, or recording numerical figures. (B-39)

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Applicants must demonstrate clerical and verbal abilities by successful completion of Postal Service Test 710.

  2. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to type at a net rate of 45 words per minute in a 5­minute test. This must be demonstrated by successful completion of Postal Service Test 712. Certificates of proficiency are not acceptable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Applicant must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
