'Top Ten' Organized Locals
At the APWU's 19th Biennial National Convention in Las Vegas, the union saluted local organizing efforts, awarding special honors to the “Top 10” organized locals in several categories. Click here to view the full list [PDF].
The following are the “top of the Top 10” locals:
2,000-Plus Members — Boston Metro Area Local (94%)
1,000-1,999 Members — Broward County Area Local (96%)
500-999 Members — Buffalo Area Local (97%)
200-499 Members — Philadelphia BMC Local (98%)
100-199 Members — Bridgeport Area, Bangor Area, and Scranton Locals (95%)
50-99 Members — Florida Keys Area Local (100%).
Special Honors
The Detroit District Area Local and the Pittsburgh Metro Area Local each were honored for representing “100 Percent APWU” private-sector shops.
Also awarded were the top organized “Member-At-Large” state organization (Tennessee) and the “largest most-organized local” (New York Metro Area Local).
Congratulations are due these locals for a job well done. The results they achieved stand as clear examples of what can be accomplished when activists make organizing a top priority.
