Question:
When will the opportunity for an additional bid, which was part of the contract extension, take effect?

President Burrus:
Thank you for writing.
The additional opportunity to be declared a successful bidder will take effect Nov. 21, 2005, the effective date of the one-year contract extension. This is true of all provisions of the extension, unless the agreement specifies otherwise.
The agreement says, “Specifically, the parties agree that an employee may be designated a successful bidder an additional one (1) time during the extension of the contract.
Employees who have been declared the successful bidder fewer than seven times since Nov. 21, 2000, may continue to bid until then, and/or they may bid more than once during the period of the extension.
The agreement stipulates that, “an employee may be designated a successful bidder no more than a total of eight (8) times during the 2000-2006 collective bargaining agreement.”
