Safety & Health Representatives
The APWU’s regional Safety & Health Representatives provide safety and health representation on Area Joint Labor-Management Safety Committees, under the direction of their respective regional coordinator. Questions and concerns regarding safety and health in the APWU’s Western Region should be directed to Western Regional Coordinator Omar Gonzalez’s office at 650-685-7401.
APWU regional Safety & Health representatives are responsible for the evaluation and implementation of national agreements at the Area level concerning OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and the Ergonomic Risk Reduction Process (ERRP). Questions regarding these programs can be directed to the appropriate regional Safety & Health representatives.

The Western Region Coordinator has jurisdictional responsibility for organizing the union’s 13 Western states, Guam, American Samoa, and Saipan. The coordinator oversees grievance processing beyond Step 3, and interacts with the Pacific, Southwest, and Western Area Grievance Processing Centers to manage the arbitration scheduling.
