10/26/2017 - On October 18, APWU Boston Metro Area Local – along with other APWU members, allies and activists – took to the streets to demand management fill New England Area postal vacancies. Ignoring these vacancies leads to slow mail processing, delayed mail delivery, poor customer service and hinders dependable public service around New England.

Employee Impact Expected at CFS Sites
02/05/2016 - In a letter dated Jan. 29, 2016, the Postal Service notified the APWU that it plans to activate Flats Postal Automated Redirection Systems (FPARS) in 17 locations where there are Central Forwarding System (CFS) sites. Deployment of the new equipment is expected to impact employees in some locations as early as March 28, 2016.
07/01/2014 - The APWU won an important arbitration award on June 24, when Arbitrator Stephen B. Goldberg ruled that the Postal Service must determine – prior to excessing employees across craft lines – that the employees meet the minimum qualifications for the new position.
Postmaster General Declares War on Service
06/30/2014 - The APWU today denounced plans by the Postal Service to resume the closure and consolidation of up to 82 mail processing plants beginning in January 2015.
“This is a direct assault on service to the people of the country, on postal workers and on the Postal Service’s own network,” said union President Mark Dimondstein. The closure of the plants will require the USPS to degrade service standards and delay mail.
“We need a Postmaster General who will champion the Postal Service. Instead, PMG Donahoe is on a rampage to destroy it,” he said
05/28/2014 - A May 28 agreement between the APWU and USPS [PDF] establishes a new Customer Care Center (CCC) in Wichita KS.
The new CCC will be located at the Remote Encoding Center (REC) site, which is scheduled to close no later than November 14.
09/28/2012 - The APWU and USPS have reached an important agreement that will strengthen seniority for Clerk Craft employees when workers are excessed from an installation, Clerk Craft Director Rob Strunk has announced.
08/21/2012 - In an inspirational speech Aug. 19, Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL) urged union members to fight back against “evil-doers” who would destroy the Postal Service and send the nation back to a dark time when most workers had no rights and few prospects for achieving the American Dream.
