07/27/2010 - The union’s Constitution Committee has revised Resolution #6, which it offered for consideration by delegates to the APWU 20th Biennial National Convention.
05/07/2010 - To honor more than 200,000 postal workers who participated in the Great Postal Strike of 1970, the APWU invites union members to purchase lapel pins that commemorate the 40th anniversary of the illegal work stoppage.
05/07/2008 - For the first time, APWU locals and state organizations will register delegates to the APWU National Convention online, through the union’s Web site, www.apwu.org. “This is another important step on the road to modernization,” said APWU Secretary-Treasurer Terry R. Stapleton. “Submitting paper credentials is a thing of the past.”
To register delegates from their locals or state organizations, authorized officers must visit the Web site’s Members Only section, and select My Local and Personal Info, where they will be prompted to log-in and enter a password. (Log-in instructions are provided on the page.) Authorized officers are the president and the secretary, secretary-treasurer, or treasurer.
03/26/2007 - The APWU National Election Committee has amended a rule governing the 2007 election of officers that was published in the March/April issue of The American Postal Worker.
The rule, which originally prohibited automatic national convention delegates from becoming candidates for Director of the APWU Retirees Department and Regional Retiree National Convention Delegate, will now allow automatic delegates to run for Director of the APWU Retirees Department. Automatic national convention delegates will continue to be ineligible to run for Regional Retiree National Convention Delegate.
