01/11/2018 - The Voluntary Early Retirement (VER) recently announced for eligible Clerk Craft employees by the Postal Service has generated many questions from the members of the APWU... It is not the place of the national APWU to give advice on whether to retire or not. That is a personal decision. However, it is decision with implications that members should know and consider.

01/04/2018 - Today, January 4, 2018, the APWU was notified by letter that the USPS is offering voluntary early out retirement (VERA) for eligible clerk craft employees. This letter was received with no advance notification to the union or negotiations with the APWU over who the VERA applied to and under what conditions.

05/14/2014 - The APWU-negotiated Retirement Incentive Agreement signed on Sept. 28, 2012, awarded eligible employees two lump-sum payments totaling $15,000. The first installment of $10,000 (minus applicable taxes) was distributed on May 24, 2013. The final installment of $5,000 (minus applicable taxes) will be distributed on Friday, May 23, 2014.
05/05/2014 - When retirees pick up their final incentive checks, it presents a great opportunity to invite these former APWU members to join the union’s Retirees Department.
05/16/2013 - APWU President Cliff Guffey is congratulating APWU retirees and other former employees who will soon receive the first installment of the $15,000 incentive the APWU negotiated last year. The first payment of $10,000 (minus applicable taxes and withholdings) will be available on May 24, 2013. The second installment of $5,000 will be paid on May 23, 2014.
03/26/2013 - More than 950 new members of the APWU Retirees Department participated in the union’s first-ever Telephone Town Hall conference call on March 21, where participants learned the in-and-outs of retirement and the benefits of remaining active in the APWU.
01/31/2013 - As approximately 20,000 APWU members say bittersweet goodbyes to their co-workers and hit the clock for the last time today, we say, “Thank you! Farewell!”
01/23/2013 - The APWU has received reports that some retiring union members are receiving confusing and sometimes inaccurate information regarding their last day of work.
01/17/2013 - As approximately 20,000 union members prepare to retire at the end of January and February, the APWU is wishing them well and encouraging them to stay connected to the union and their co-workers by joining the Retirees Department.
11/30/2012 - California Postal Vehicle Service employees who have been identified as impacted by the USPS decision to subcontract PVS operations in the state and who have indicated their intent to accept the USPS Voluntary Early Retirement offer now have until Jan. 31, 2013, to revoke their decision.
