Arbitration Final Decision Expected Dec. 13
Burrus Update #60, Dec. 11, 2001
It is expected that arbitrator Steven Goldberg will issue his final decision in the APWU interest arbitration on Thursday, December 13, 2001. I intend to announce the decision via a teleconference that will be held on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Those locals interested in learning of the details of the award should contact my staff at (202) 842-4248 to receive the special telephone number to connect to the teleconference. Each teleconference is assigned a unique telephone number, so those who have participated in the prior teleconferences on anthrax are required to obtain a new number from my office. It is important that those who wish to participate call prior to 3:00 p.m. EST so that they can hear the entire presentation.
Immediately following the teleconference, the entire award will be placed on the APWU web site and may be found by accessing the link labeled Arbitration Award.
Arbitrator Goldberg has promised that the final award will be issued on Thursday, December 13, 2001, but it is possible that he may delay its presentation for reasons beyond my control. If this occurs, the teleconference will be delayed until a later date that will be announced in a subsequent Update.
