Tributes to Honor Moe Biller

Burrus Update #17-03, Sept. 8, 2003

I am pleased to announce that the House of Representatives has tentatively scheduled a special tribute to Moe Biller for Tuesday, Sept. 9, after the conclusion of its regular business. The beloved president emeritus of the American Postal Workers Union passed away on Sept. 5.

Any House member who wishes to offer a tribute to Moe will be granted an opportunity to speak from the chamber's floor at that time. C-SPAN is expected to broadcast the tribute.

The APWU will celebrate the life of Moe Biller in a memorial on Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Many APWU members will be in Las Vegas at that time to participate in the Clerk Craft Conference.

Those officers who wish to pay their respects to Moe are invited to attend the APWU memorial. Dignitaries from the labor movement and politics will be invited to attend as well. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

The November-December edition of the American Postal Worker also will feature a tribute. If you wish to share a remembrance of Moe, please send it to Sally Davidow, APWU Communications Director, 1300 L St. NW, Washington, DC 20005.
