Convention Resolutions

June 2 is the publication deadline for the Convention Resolutions Book. Resolutions should be submitted as early as possible to national Secretary-Treasurer Terry R. Stapleton.

Resolutions are accepted only from local or state affiliates, or from members-at-large, who are the only members permitted to submit resolutions under their own signatures. Resolutions submitted by an affiliate must be signed by the organization’s president or secretary-treasurer. (Resolutions not properly signed will be returned.)

Resolutions must be typed, double-spaced, and submitted in hard-copy form individually (one only per page) and accompanied by a CD-ROM or floppy disk that contains the resolution in a Word-file document. Both items must be submitted in a single envelope to the APWU Secretary-Treasurer’s Department, 1300 L St., NW, Washington, DC, 20005.

Please use this document [MS Word | PDF] as a template to format any resolutions that you submit.

Per Article 5, Section 3, of the APWU Constitution and Bylaws, the secretary-treasurer will submit the resolutions to a screening committee that works to eliminate repetition and to consolidate issues.

Resolutions received after June 2, provided they do not deal with subjects otherwise covered by the screening committee, will be referred to the appropriate committees.

To achieve uniformity, it is requested that resolutions be structured as follows:

  • The name of the appropriate committee to review the resolution, e.g., Labor-Management Committee;

  • The article number (if applicable);

  • The resolution title;

  • The names of the sponsoring locals, state organizations and/or Members-at-Large; and

  • The body or text of the resolution itself.
