Affected Clerks Must Act by June 20, 2001

Saved Grade Available

For AFSM 100-Impacted Employees

Clerk employees who were impacted by the deployment of an AFSM 100 from January 1, 2000 to the present, and who voluntarily bid to a lower level, are eligible to be placed back into their former wage level with a saved grade, announced Clerk Division Director Cliff Guffey.

These employees have until Wednesday, June 20, 2001 to submit to their Human Resources Department details of when they bid to the lower level, what position/duty assignment they were in, and how they were potentially impacted due to the AFSM 100 deployment. Affected clerks are strongly encouraged to take the appropriate action to gain this negotiated benefit.

Impacted employees may be FSM L-5 and L-6 distribution clerks, distribution and window clerks, expediters or other employees.

For details, refer to the Memorandum of Understanding that accompanies this bulletin. (PDF attachment)

Clerks to Retain Saved Grade

On May 5, 2001, every clerk craft employee who is currently in a saved grade status will be given the benefit of the enhancements in saved grade negotiated in the recent clerk Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

These employees will not have to bid to retain saved grade for two years"until May 5, 2003. After May 5, 2003, these employees will not be required to bid every duty assignment in their former wage level, but will only be expected to bid or apply to positions for which they are qualified.
