Candidates Certified for Election To APWU National Offices

 Secretary-Treasurer Robert L. Tunstall has certified the named members in this bulletin as the Official Candidates for the APWU 2001 National Officers Election.

A drawing for candidate placement on the ballot was held on Friday, June 29, 2001 at 10:00 am. The results of the drawing are indicated below. (Incumbent officers are automatically listed first when seeking election to the same office, as per the Rules and Regulations Governing 2001 National Elections adopted by the Election Committee.)

Ballots are tentatively scheduled to be mailed to all APWU members on Tuesday, September 11, 2001; however, the ballots will be mailed no later than Friday, September 14, 2001.

Duplicate Ballot Requests

Members who have not received a ballot by Tuesday, September 18, 2001, should notify either their local or the national office to request a duplicate ballot. If you notify your local, the officer who received the request must then contact the Secretary-Treasurer's Per Capita office by calling 202-842-8505, or by sending a fax to 202-216-2650. So that a proper duplicate ballot can be mailed. All requests to national headquarters must include the member's name, Social Security number, address, division and local, and indicate whether the member is on DCO or cash-pay.

For your ballot to be counted, the ballot must be mailed in time to be received in the designated post office box not later than 2:00 pm on Friday, October 5, 2001.

CORRECTION ON WICHITA REGION

In the chart in Article 11, Section 2 of the APWU National Constitution and Bylaws, the Wichita Region, Clerk Division is in the Central Region. Therefore, this bulletin supersedes any previous notice. National Business Agents "A" and "B", Wichita Region, Clerk Division for both the opposed and unopposed candidates have been placed in the Central Region.

Saturday, November 10, 2001

APWU Installation of
Officers Dinner-Dance

The APWU Installation of Officers Dinner-Dance will be held Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the Regency Ballroom, Lobby Level, Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, DC 20008.

The installation begins with a reception at 6:00 pm; dinner follows at 7:00 pm.

Room reservations can be made by calling the Omni Shoreham Hotel at 202-234-0700 or 1-800-THE-OMNI. Let the reservation agent know the group name is "APWU Installation." The room rate is $179.00 plus tax, currently 14.5 percent, for single/double occupancy. Reservations should be made by October 19, 2001, to guarantee the negotiated rate.

The Secretary-Treasurer's office requests participants to complete the form below, including phone number and names of each individual attending. Return the form, along with your payment, to: Secretary-Treasurer Robert L. Tunstall, American Postal Workers Union, 1300 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. Tickets are $60.00 each. Checks must be payable to "American Postal Workers Union" and must be received no later than Monday, October 29, 2001.

Note: The APWU 2001 Election Committee has announced that their pick-up and counting process will begin October 5, 2001, at 2:00 pm. Therefore, if you plan to wait until the election results are finalized to purchase tickets, tickets must be reserved in writing by completing the attached form and returning it to Secretary-Treasurer Tunstall no later than 4:00 pm, Monday, October 29, 2001.
