Final Deliberations of the APWU 2004 Convention
2004 Convention Bulletin #5, August 30, 2004
On the final day of the APWU 17th Biennial Convention, delegates authorized retired APWU members to elect the Retirees Department Director. The current director, John R. Smith, serves by presidential appointment.
Delegates also voted to automatically pay arbitration advocates for 16 hours when they are scheduled to hear cases, with eights hours dedicated to case preparation and the remaining eight hours to attend hearings.
The convention also unanimously adopted a resolution to seek a postage stamp commemorating Moe Biller, the union’s president from 1980-2001, who passed away last year.
Delegates adopted the recommendations of numerous committees, including Appeals, Legislative, Maintenance, Motor Vehicle, Safety and Health, Organization, Human Relations, and Formal Resolutions.
