Holiday-Timed Relief for 'Katrina' Families
APWU Web News Article #72-05, Dec. 22, 2005
APWU’s “Adopt-A-Family” and the union Auxiliary’s “Member-to-Member Gift Card” programs have brought the spirit of the holidays to the families of more than 140 APWU members devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Working togeter, the APWU Human Relations Department, the Office of the Southern Regional Coordinator, and the Auxiliary-to-the-APWU distributed gift cards worth more than $25,000, and holiday meals valued at $6,000 to 142 different APWU ‘Katrina’ families.
Thanks to the generosity of union members, the Katrina families will have gifts to open, as well as a feast to celebrate the holiday season.
Happy holidays and the brightest of New Year’s to you and yours!
