‘Ask a Working Woman’ Survey

APWU Web News Article #35-06, June 19, 2006

Working women know the pressures of balancing work and family, the difficulties of making ends meet, and the challenges of getting ahead.

That’s why the union urges APWU members to make their voices heard by taking part in the AFL-CIO’s 2006 Ask a Working Woman survey.

We make tough choices every day, and know the importance of a good job in a just economy in which our pay keeps up with prices, our jobs won’t be “outsourced,” and big medical expenses won’t wipe out our life savings. We also want our elected leaders to listen to us, not just to the wealthy and powerful interests that have a disproportionate influence in determining our nation’s economic policies.

The survey’s results will be distributed to every member of Congress as well as to state and local officials around the country on Labor Day.

For facts and statistics about the struggles of working women in today’s global economy, and to view the results of the 2004 Ask a Working Woman survey, visit the AFL-CIO’s Working Women Web pages.
