Ten More U.S. Representatives
Co-Sponsor
Mail Network Protection Act
APWU Web News Article #29-08, April 3, 2008
Since Congress returned from its Easter recess on March 31, 10 additional members of the House of Representatives have taken a stand against wasteful, inefficient, and detrimental subcontracting by signing on to the Mail Network Protection Act (H.R. 4236).
The legislation, introduced last November by Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA), would require the Postal Service to bargain with postal unions before it engages in significant contracting-out and protect inexpensive, trustworthy mail service for the American public.
The Congressional Record reports that the following representatives were added as co-sponsors of the bill on March 31:

Gaining additional co-sponsors remains a top priority for the union, and many locals have been busy contacting their elected officials seeking support for the measure.
“The union has demonstrated time and time again that outsourcing vital postal operations to private contractors often results in cost increases, inefficiency, and delayed service for consumers,” said APWU President William Burrus. “When the work is returned, costs decrease and efficiency improves.”
