OSHA Safety Citations Update
OSHA Fines USPS for
Safety Violations at Minneapolis/St. Paul NDC
APWU Web News Article 062-2010, June 29, 2010
Adding to the growing number of safety citations issued to the Postal Service in recent weeks, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fined the USPS $210,000 for exposing employees to electrical hazards at the Minneapolis/St. Paul (MN) Network Distribution Center (NDC).
OSHA issued the Postal Service citations [PDF] for “willful” violations at the facility. Inspectors found employees working on live machinery without proper equipment or training, exposing them to the risk of electric shock.
The recent citations bring the Postal Service’s total OSHA fines to nearly $2.7 million.
