Members of organizations often elect or appoint fellow members they trust to periodically review finances and report on their findings. How was the group’s money spent? Who spent it? Who authorized the spending?

President Obama Honors Postal Heritage Day

07/26/2016 - President Obama is honoring Postal Heritage Day, July 26, writing a tribute to the Postal Service and the workers who carry out its mission. July 26 has been designated Postal Heritage Day because it is the day in 1775 when the Second Continental Congress established the U.S. Post Office and named Benjamin Franklin the nation’s first Postmaster General.

Now, 241 years later, postal workers are continuing the fight for a vibrant, public Postal Service.

APWU Joins Boycott of Made-in-Mexico Nabisco Products

Company Outsourced Hundreds of Union Jobs

The APWU is urging union members to join a boycott of Mexican-made Nabisco products launched by the Bakery, Confectioners, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) and endorsed by the AFL-CIO. Affected products include Oreos, Newtons, Chips Ahoy, Honey Grahams, Animal Crackers, Ritz Crackers, Premium, Belvita, Lorna Doone, Teddy Grahams, Honey Maid and Wheat Thins.

New Pay Rates to Take Effect Aug. 6

Retroactive Pay Expected Nov. 4

07/23/2016 - According to information provided by the Postal Service, the new pay rates under the new APWU-USPS contract will begin on Aug. 6 (Pay Period 17) and will be reflected in paychecks dated Aug. 26, APWU President Mark Dimondstein has announced. Retroactive pay for the period from Nov. 14, 2015, through Aug. 5, 2016, are expected in Pay Period 22, with an expected pay date of Nov. 4, 2016.

New Contract Now Available Online

07/23/2016 - The new contract between the APWU and USPS can now be viewed online.  Click here to view the text. The 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement is the result of a decision issued by Arbitrator Stephen B. Goldberg on July 8. A printed copy will be mailed to APWU members within six weeks.

“This contract is the result of a two-year struggle for Good Service! Good Jobs! Good Contract! by APWU officers and members – at the negotiating table and arbitration hearings as well as on the workroom floor and in our communities,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein.
