Pay Increase Coming Nov. 25

11/02/2017 - The third general wage increase under the 2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement will be effective Nov. 25, 2017. This wage increase will be reflected in the paycheck workers will receive on Dec.15, 2017.Career employees will receive a pay raise of 1.3 percent.

The APWU’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Postal Service expires on Sept. 20, 2018. As part of the National Officers’ preparation for the upcoming negotiations, they issued a call-to-action for members to suggest an initial contract campaign slogan. Answering the call, members stepped up and spoke out.

In 2001, Anthrax-laden letters were sent through the mail sickening 22 Americans, including nine postal workers. Five died, including two APWU brothers – Joseph P. Curseen Jr. and Thomas L. Morris – at the Brentwood Mail Processing Center in Washington, D.C., that would later be named in their honor.

Veterans' Day Observed on Saturday November 11: Postal Retail and Delivery Closed

10/19/2017 - Each year, Veterans' Day is celebrated on Nov. 11. For 2017, the holiday falls on a Saturday. 

There has been some confusion about when the Postal Service will observe the holiday because it has a six “business” day week. For clarification, USPS Retail and Delivery will be closed on Saturday, November 11, 2017. It will be business as usual on Friday, November 10, 2017.

Grievance Time Limit Deadlines Extended For All-Craft Conference

09/26/2017 - In preparation for the 2017 All-Craft Conference, the APWU has requested an extension for all grievance time limit deadlines, for all levels. In response, the Postal Service has issued, “a one-week moratorium on grievance time limits at the local, regional and national level.”  The extension period is effective from Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, through Oct. 6, 2017, to coincide with All-Craft activities.
