01/09/2018 - On Jan. 5, the APWU and USPS signed a Memorandum of Understanding Re: Clerk Craft PSE Hiring and One Day Break. The new MOU designates Saturday, the first day of the pay period, as the hire date of all Clerk Craft Postal Support Employees (PSEs).
11/23/2017 - This year, the December period begins December 2, 2017 (Pay Period 25-17- Week 2) and ends December 29, 2017 (Pay Period 01-18 - Week 1).
08/11/2017 - In accordance with the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement, career employees represented by the APWU will receive a 13 cents per hour cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective September 2. The increase is the result of an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W). The increase will appear in paychecks dated September 22, 2017 (Pay Period 19-2017), and will total $270.00 per year.
Arbitrator Goldberg found USPS violated ‘POStPlan’ MOU
06/07/2017 - The APWU scores another victory today, defending postal employees in the union’s bargaining unit. Arbitrator Goldberg issued an award in a national-level case over what remedy was due for the Postal Service’s failure to staff ‘POStPlan’ offices following an original award on September 5, 2014 and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) negotiated afterward...
“This is an important award for the protection and expansion of Clerk Craft work,” said President Dimondstein. “This keeps management’s feet to the fire, holding them to the agreements they make with the APWU.”
12/27/2016 - The APWU signed an updated agreement December 22, 2016, for Members-at-Large who work in small post offices that are not represented by a local union...“The memorandum is important,” said President Mark Dimondstein. “It continues to provide the protection of a local contract to thousands of union members in small offices who would not otherwise be covered by a local agreement. It provides additional benefits particularly for the PTFs and PSEs who staff these small offices.” The agreement covers approximately 15,000 workers.
11/30/2016 - On an annual basis, Postal Support Employees who are assigned as PSE Sales/Service and Distribution Associates, D/A 81-4, will be eligible to purchase three (3) Type 2 shirts worn by employees assigned for retail operations...This ONLY applies to PSEs who have met the criteria listed.
On April 5 and 6 the APWU completed the opening round of its case before the arbitration panel that will decide the terms of a new contract, with testimony supporting the union’s economic package and proposals to eliminate multiple tiers within the workforce.
07/21/2015 - The APWU and the Postal Service signed an agreement on July 15, 2015, that will compensate Postal Support Employees (PSEs) for the time they spent and costs they incurred to obtain fingerprints for background investigations that were required for their conversion to career status, Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon has announced.
In accordance with the settlement, the Postal Service is responsible for any “direct costs” of fingerprinting, including mileage.
11/01/2013 - APWU-represented postal employees will receive an increase in their annual salaries effective Nov. 16, which will be reflected in paychecks dated Dec. 6. The increase will apply to employees covered by the APWU-USPS 2010-2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
ALSO: In a decision issued Oct. 16, Arbitrator Shyam Das ruled that APWU members are entitled to retroactive pay for time postmasters or supervisors performed craft duties in excess of limits outlined in the contract.
08/16/2013 - In response to demands from the APWU, the Postal Service agreed on Aug. 14 to convert 399 Clerk Craft Postal Support Employees (PSEs) to career status. The conversions will be the first in mail processing.
