07/06/2016 - In a supplemental decision issued on July 5, Arbitrator Ira Jaffe ruled in favor of the APWU on staffing at Bulk Mail Centers (BMCs), also known as Network Distribution Centers (NDCs).
On Maintenance Craft Staffing at BMCs
03/24/2016 - The Postal Service sidestepped a fight in federal court on March 16 over enforcement of an Oct. 19, 2015, arbitration award on staffing at Bulk Mail Centers (BMCs). After the USPS filed a “consent motion,” Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson ordered interpretation of the award to be returned to Arbitrator Ira F. Jaffe.

12/18/2015 - The APWU filed a complaint in federal court on Dec. 11 seeking enforcement of a national arbitration award on staffing at Bulk Mail Centers (BMC), Maintenance Craft Director Steve Raymer has announced. The complaint asks the court to direct the Postal Service to comply with a ruling issued by Arbitrator Ira F. Jaffe on Oct. 19.

05/08/2014 - In response to two charges filed by the APWU, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a complaint against the Postal Service on April 30, asserting that the USPS “has been failing and refusing to bargain collectively and in good faith,” by refusing to provide information to the union.
09/01/2010 - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fined the Postal Service $210,000 for willfully exposing employees to electrical safety hazards at the Cincinnati Bulk Mail Center (BMC).
08/27/2010 - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued the Postal Service $191,000 in fines for exposing employees to serious and repeat safety hazards at the Bulk Mail Center (BMC) in Kansas City, KS.
State of the Union Address
08/24/2010 - APWU President William Burrus told delegates to the 20th Biennial National Convention that the union is “alive and strong.”
ALSO: Delegates to the APWU National Convention got down to business on the meeting’s opening day, voting on more than 90 resolutions that were submitted to the union’s Labor-Management Committee.
AND: Many delegates arrived in Detroit a few days early to attend the Bulk Mail Centers (BMC) conference on Aug. 20.
