Dear Editor Mark Dimondstein,
My name is Susan Nichols and I am sending you this [letter and photograph below] on behalf of the group of Laborer/Custodians to whom it refers. We would urge you to print this because 1) it underscores the power and importance of the Union, and 2) in recognition of the enormous effort put forth in this case to win back these jobs. It was a long and labor-intensive process on the part of, particularly, Maintenance Craft Director Erik Bojarski. He, and President Frank Resetarits, truly changed our lives for so much the better. They deserve a recognition – as does the Union.
02/23/2018 - In accordance with the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement, career employees represented by the APWU will receive a 25 cent per hour cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), effective March 3.
The increase is the result of a rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W). It will appear in paychecks dated March 23, 2018 (Pay Period 06-2018), and will total $520.00 per year.

In case you missed it, we have a new Collective Bargaining Agreement! The Maintenance Craft was successful in our primary goal of eliminating the non-career category from our ranks. 08/21/2016 - The new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) included a historic win for the Maintenance Craft.
“We have negotiated our way to an all-career workforce,” Maintenance Craft Director Steven G. Raymer, said at the National Convention. “There used to be casual employees, Transitional Employees, and there aren’t anymore. More recently, there used to be Postal Support Employees (PSEs) and there are no longer any PSEs that can be employed in the Maintenance Craft. We are very proud to be an all career workforce!”
On April 5 and 6 the APWU completed the opening round of its case before the arbitration panel that will decide the terms of a new contract, with testimony supporting the union’s economic package and proposals to eliminate multiple tiers within the workforce.
Two Related MOUs and Maintenance-Specific Step 4 Settlement Facilitate Extension
09/29/2015 - The APWU and the USPS have agreed upon two Memoranda of Understanding: “Minimizing Excessing” and “Peak Season Exception Periods,” in addition to a Maintenance-specific Step 4 Settlement, that are all interconnected and result in the extension of the 50-mile memo on Sept. 28, 2015, APWU President Mark Dimondstein announced.
09/11/2014 - The APWU and USPS signed a major settlement on July 9 that resolved a long-standing dispute over custodial staffing and resulted in the conversion to career of all Maintenance Craft Postal Support Employees.
It was not an agreement we entered into lightly. The agreement stipulates that the MS-47 Handbook-Transmittal Letter 5, which governs custodial work and staffing, will be implemented as amended by our negotiations.

07/01/2014 - On March 20, 2014, President Mark Dimondstein signed a memorandum of understanding with the USPS on Filling Residual Vacancies. The title sounds innocuous enough, but the agreement is an extremely important step forward for APWU members.
