07/21/2015 - The APWU and the Postal Service signed an agreement on July 15, 2015, that will compensate Postal Support Employees (PSEs) for the time they spent and costs they incurred to obtain fingerprints for background investigations that were required for their conversion to career status, Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon has announced.
In accordance with the settlement, the Postal Service is responsible for any “direct costs” of fingerprinting, including mileage.
07/01/2014 - The APWU won an important arbitration award on June 24, when Arbitrator Stephen B. Goldberg ruled that the Postal Service must determine – prior to excessing employees across craft lines – that the employees meet the minimum qualifications for the new position.
08/15/2013 - Career APWU members will receive a $937 annual increase in pay in September, APWU President Cliff Guffey has announced. “This substantial raise is the result of the 2010-2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement, which preserved cost-of-living adjustments for our members,” he said.
ALSO: The APWU won a major victory Aug. 13 when Arbitrator Shyam Das issued a ruling that will help the union fight subcontracting, President Cliff Guffey has announced. Das ruled that locals must be notified when management makes a decision at the local, district or area level to contract out craft work.
03/07/2013 - In one of the first decisions interpreting the 2010-2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Arbitrator Stephen B. Goldberg ruled on March 4 that the USPS decision to subcontract Postal Vehicle Service work throughout California violated the contract.
11/30/2012 - California Postal Vehicle Service employees who have been identified as impacted by the USPS decision to subcontract PVS operations in the state and who have indicated their intent to accept the USPS Voluntary Early Retirement offer now have until Jan. 31, 2013, to revoke their decision.
