The Nation’s Capital Southern Maryland Area Local’s (NCSMAL) CAT coordinated a commemorative day of action on March 19 for the 1970 Great Postal Strike. For the day, participating members wore 2018 Contract Campaign or other APWU gear.

Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee Appointed

03/07/2018 - With contract negotiations set to begin early summer, President Mark Dimondstein has announced the names of union members who will serve on the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee. In accordance with the APWU Constitution, each member of the National Executive Board names one person to the committee; a 14th member, appointed by the president, is a member of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Task Force.

Management Has to Make Sense

Whatever we do in life, we must make sense in our interactions and conversations with each other – especially between the union and management – so that we can respectfully arrive at some kind of resolve. Not making sense kills morale.

Energizing CATs for a Good Contract

One of the responsibilities of APWU leaders is to motivate union members to join in and do their part in fighting for a good contract and the survival of the Postal Service.

That is where CATs (Contract Action Teams) come into play. They emphasize participation of union members on the work floor and activities in the community to win support from the public.
