07/26/2018 - On Wednesday, July 18, the APWU and our allies won a big victory by defeating an attempt to prohibit the Postal Service from expanding financial services. In a vote on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, an amendment to a government appropriation bill (H.R. 6147) offered by Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC) was rejected by a bipartisan vote of 212 to 201. The APWU greatly appreciates the bipartisan support from lawmakers who voted down this proposal.
The Senate is set to vote on a disastrous tax bill this week, after their House counterparts passed a tax reform bill earlier this month. Much like the House plan, this bill would punish working families and reward the wealthy elites with tax breaks.

On June 11, California Postal Workers Union President Mike Evans attended a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) event with Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) and special guest Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Minority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 114th Congress.
On behalf of the American Postal Workers Union, President Evans accepted a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing the APWU’s outstanding legislative efforts from Representative Chu. During the event, Congresswoman Pelosi also addressed key postal legislative issues with President Evans, including amendments APWU raised on H.R. 756. Congresswoman Chu represents California's 27th Congressional District and serves on the powerful House Ways & Means Committee.

The 2016 election is over. It is time to revamp our efforts to secure legislation to benefit the working class and protect the public Postal Service. The results of the election have caused a divide in this nation. It is a divide we must work to end. It is now more important than ever to stand up and fight for what is right.
08/30/2016 - From Northeast Region Coordinator John Dirzius:
I hope everyone made it back home safe from the National Convention. It was great seeing all of you and participating in our union’s most important union meeting. As I have often stated and even from the podium at the Convention - the Northeast Region leads the way in fighting important issues – thinking outside the box to enforce our contract – in providing our members the very best in representation – and in building a better and stronger APWU. Just take a look at who was at the microphones speaking out and on our many resolutions. I could not have been prouder and rest assure that the entire APWU takes note of our collective solidarity in our Region.
I have attached for your review a document provided at the Convention listing the ‘Best of the Organized Locals’ in the APWU. This is just another example of what we do well in the Northeast Region. Let my highlight and congratulate the ‘Top 3 Locals' in each category size as being the best: Boston Metro Area Local, Long Island Area Local, Greater CT Area Local, Red Bank Area Local, Lynn, MA Local, and the Rhode Island Postal Workers.

It was a pleasure to spend time with APWU brothers and sisters at the All-Craft Conference. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to discuss our legislative and political goals and efforts, both on the national level and in individual districts.
