On Sunday, Oct. 22, the South Shore Annex Post Office – located at 3031 Veterans Road West, Staten Island, NY – was renamed and dedicated in memory of Leonard “Lenny” Montalto.
10/26/2017 - On October 18, APWU Boston Metro Area Local – along with other APWU members, allies and activists – took to the streets to demand management fill New England Area postal vacancies. Ignoring these vacancies leads to slow mail processing, delayed mail delivery, poor customer service and hinders dependable public service around New England.

The familiar blue collection boxes are vanishing from our streets. A recent USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG) audit report charges that the Postal Service is not taking into account community need and service when removing the signature mail boxes. In the Eastern Area alone, the Postal Service did not follow proper procedure for 75 percent of the removed collection boxes between Oct. 1, 2014 and Feb. 29, 2016 (322 out of 432).

Protesting Health Care Bill
Members of the Portland Oregon Area Local attended a rally protesting Republican health care legislation on July 6. At rallies all over the country, people protested against the drastic bill that would leave millions uninsured with the slogan, “Kill the bill, don’t kill us.”
08/25/2017 - The APWU and the USPS recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), RE: Peak Season Exception Periods – 2017 Date Changes, modifying the Peak Season (Holiday Season) Exception period for 2017 to “ensure adequate coverage” and “accommodate customer service.”
