12/13/2013 - The APWU Maintenance Division Council has unanimously approved the appointment by Director Steve Raymer of Christopher Howe as Maintenance Craft National Business Agent for the Northeast Region. The appointment will be effective Jan. 1, 2014.
12/09/2013 - Richard H. Logan, National Business Agent for the Maintenance Craft, passed away on Dec. 5. He was 59.

03/08/2013 - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a citation to the Postal Service for unsafe working conditions at its Scarborough ME facility and fined the agency $27,500 on Feb. 1.
01/16/2013 - The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited the USPS for safety violations at its Providence, RI operation including three violations concerning the organization’s failure to protect employees from multiple potential hazards from using powered industrial trucks. OSHA also admonished the USPS for two safety violations that were not specifically covered under OSHA regulations. The penalties proposed in the citations total $6,630.
12/21/2012 - Postal workers who suffered property losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy may be eligible to receive free uniforms, thanks to a business group.
12/18/2012 - The union has distributed $59,750 from the APWU Disaster Fund to 14 union members who suffered devastating losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy and to the family of Lenny Montalto, Human Relations Director Sue Carney has announced. Montalto, who served as an officer of the Staten Island Local, lost his life in the storm.

12/05/2012 - A New York City congressman has introduced legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to name a Staten Island postal facility after Lenny Montalto, the APWU member who lost his life trying to save his home from flooding during Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29, 2012.

12/05/2012 - Postal and federal employees affected by Hurricane Sandy will find it easier to tap into retirement savings to help repair their homes, replace lost property, or to aid family members suffering from the massive storm, which devastated hundreds of communities in the northeast. To assist Hurricane Sandy victims, the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), a tax-deferred retirement savings and investment plan for government workers, has announced temporary changes to its withdrawal rules.
