09/02/2013 - APWU retirees across the country turned out in huge numbers on July 2 to protest the “Chained CPI,” a proposal to change the way cost-of-living adjustments are calculated that will result in lower COLAs for seniors. The event was sponsored by the Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA), which has a membership over 4 million retired union members, seniors and community activists. The APWU Retirees Department is one of its affiliates.

Guffey Addresses Alliance for Retired Americans

Seeks Support for Postal Service Protection Act

05/14/2013 - APWU President Cliff Guffey asked leaders of the Alliance for Retired Americans to encourage members of Congress to support the Postal Service Protection Act (S. 316 in the Senate and H.R. 630 in the House) when they met with U.S. senators and representatives on May 10. Guffey addressed the organization’s Leadership Conference on May 9. APWU Retirees Director Judy Beard serves on the National Executive Board of the ARA.
