The Screening Committee examines proposals submitted by locals and state organizations on a wide array of subjects and refers the resolutions to the various committees that will make recommendations for or against adoption. The committee, chaired by Rachel Walthall of the Baltimore Francis ‘Stu’ Filbey Area Local, also consolidates resolutions on the same subject.

The committee began meeting on June 9, and by the time it adjourns on June 12, it will have reviewed approximately 360 resolutions.

Resolutions considered at APWU conventions help determine the union’s goals in contract negotiations and in the political arena, and establishes policies designed to help the union better serve its members. National conventions are the union’s highest decision-making body. The 19th Biennial National Convention will meet Aug. 18-22, in Las Vegas.
