Members of the Washington American Postal Workers Union took a break from a state conference to distribute “I Stand with Postal Workers” postcards outside the Wenatchee Post Office on May 7.

Many customers filled out the postcards on the spot and some asked for more to give to friends.

Jack Talcott, president of the Inland Empire Area Local, said that the responses he received were “very positive.”

Talcott told customers, “I'm a postal worker and our union is in contract negotiations. We're not just fighting for a better contract; we're fighting for better service. That letter you just mailed will take longer to deliver because they've just lowered service standards."

Many customers thanked Talcott and said they’d noticed that mail was taking longer to get delivered, he said.

Jamie Donahue, a member of the Wenatchee Local, said customers who got out of their cars to ask for more information received in-depth brochures, along with postcards.

Approximately 150 post cards were handed out in the hour that members were there.
