2023 APWU Scholarship Winners

The APWU proudly presents the winners of three scholarship programs: The E.C.Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship, Vocational Scholarship, and Best Essay Award for 2023. 

Hallbeck Winners

Brooke Pavelka, Daughter of Jessica Pavelka of the Nebraska Postal Workers Union

Colton Richard Czubakowski, Son of Chris Czubakowski of the Milwaukee Area Local

Irelynn Ryan, Daughter of Timothy Ryan of the Philadelphia PA Area Local

Charles Phan, Son of Chu Phan of the Baltimore "Stu Flibey" Area Local

Angela Scalise, Daughter of Robert Simonson of the Long Island Area Local

Ethan Mitchell, Son of Adonna Mitchell of the Central Massachusetts Area Local

Hillary Tran, Daughter of Paul Tran of the Fort Worth Area Local

Zachariah Joseph, Son of Bobby Joseph of the Texas Postal Workers Union

Jedda Lusk, Daughter of Thomas Lusk of the Colorado Springs Area Local

Derek Sadorra, Son of Anthony Sadorra of the Redwood Empire Area Local

Best Essay Winner

Ladan Hashi, Daughter of Nimo Osman of the Northern Virginia Area Local

Vocational Winners

Dawone Diggs Jr., Son of Dawone Diggs Sr. of the Winston Salem Area Local

Shyanne Seeliger, Daughter of Timothy Seeliger of the Madion Wisconsin Area Local

 

Hallbeck winners will recieve a $2,000 award each year for a period of four years to be used in an undergraduate program. The Vocational Scholarship winners will recieve up to $3,000 to be used for three years of study in a trade, technical, industrial or vocational school. The Best Essay winner will recieve a one-time award of $2,000. Winners are selected from applicants who are the children or grandchildren of current, retired, or deceased APWU members. 

The scholarships are funded by donations, and the APWU is extrememly grateful for contributions by union members. To make a contribution, please send a check or a money order to: APWU Scholarship Fund, 1300 L Street NW, Washington DC 20005. Your tax-deductible donation may specify "Hallbeck," "Vocational," or "Best Essay."
