Union leaders are urging APWU members to support the United Way by volunteering at one of its local agencies or by making donations at work during this year’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The United Way provides assistance to families in crisis — preventing evictions, stopping utility cut-offs, fighting hunger, and more. It is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization, with a network of 1,100 local agencies across the country.

In a letter to union members, APWU President William Burrus and Human Relations Director Sue Carney said that with so many families struggling in these tough economic times, there is a critical need to help our neighbors. “Our assistance will help fund the vital services that are so desperately needed to help people get back on their feet.”

For more information about donating to the United Way directly, or for local volunteer opportunities, members should visit www.liveunited.org.
