Penalty Overtime, Casual Exception Periods Set

The annual periods during which penalty overtime regulations and the limit on the number of casuals are not applicable have been announced.
As referenced in Article 8, Sections 4 and 5 of the National Agreement, there are four consecutive service weeks each year during which penalty overtime regulations are not applicable. This year, the period begins Dec. 6, 2008, (the first day of Week 2 of Pay Period 26-08), and ends Jan. 2, 2009, (the last day of Week 1 of PP 1-09).
Article 7.1.B.5 of the 2006-2010 National Agreement provides exceptions to the 6 and 11 percent casual caps during accounting periods 3 and 4 of the Fiscal Year. For FY2009, the exception period will be from Nov. 22, 2008, through Jan. 16, 2009, (the last two pay periods of 2008 and the first two of 2009).
