11/02/2016 - Retroactive Pay
The July 8, 2016 interest arbitration award established the terms for the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), ordering a retroactive pay increase effective Nov. 14, 2015. USPS started paying the new rates ordered by the arbitration award on Aug. 6, 2016.

On Aug. 24, 2016, with the help of Assistant Clerk Craft Director Lynn Pallas-Barber, I reached agreement with the Postal Service on the issue of whether the “normal staffing” of two clerks per machine on Delivery Bar Code Sorters (DBCS) should be a minimum requirement. This is a monumental agreement that provides the mandate that management staff the machine with two people. The settlement addresses the union’s concerns about safety when DBCS machines are staffed by just one person.

With the 2015-2018 national contract now settled, locals must decide whether or not they wish to open local negotiations with the Postal Service.
08/16/2016 - Career employees represented by the APWU will receive a one-cent per hour cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective Sept. 3, in accordance with the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The increase is the result of a slight increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W). The increase will appear in paychecks dated Sept. 23 (Pay Period 19-2016), and will total $21 per year.
08/01/2016 - APWU President Mark Dimondstein and other members of the union’s negotiating team answered questions posed by union members during two Town Hall teleconferences on July 21. More 1,000 people participated in the calls, which lasted approximately 45 minutes.
07/29/2016 - The new pay scales under the 2015-2018 contract are now posted at apwu.org. According to information provided by the Postal Service, management will implement the new pay rates on Aug. 6 (Pay Period 17) and they will be reflected in paychecks dated Aug. 26.
Retroactive Pay Expected Nov. 4
07/23/2016 - According to information provided by the Postal Service, the new pay rates under the new APWU-USPS contract will begin on Aug. 6 (Pay Period 17) and will be reflected in paychecks dated Aug. 26, APWU President Mark Dimondstein has announced. Retroactive pay for the period from Nov. 14, 2015, through Aug. 5, 2016, are expected in Pay Period 22, with an expected pay date of Nov. 4, 2016.

07/23/2016 - The new contract between the APWU and USPS can now be viewed online. Click here to view the text. The 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement is the result of a decision issued by Arbitrator Stephen B. Goldberg on July 8. A printed copy will be mailed to APWU members within six weeks.
“This contract is the result of a two-year struggle for Good Service! Good Jobs! Good Contract! by APWU officers and members – at the negotiating table and arbitration hearings as well as on the workroom floor and in our communities,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein.
07/21/2016 - In the wake of the arbitration award on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, the APWU and USPS have agreed to a timeline for local negotiations, Director of Industrial Relations Tony D. McKinnon Sr. has announced.
